Lt Chris Higgins Great 8 Memorial Raffle

The Great 8 Memorial Raffle helps send Lt. Chris Higgins’ shift to Colorado Springs to honor him at the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial.

The Great 8 Memorial Raffle features a custom-framed, hand-signed Alexander Ovechkin Washington Post cover honoring his record-breaking goal and the moment he became hockey’s all-time leading goal scorer. Professionally matted, authenticated, and ready to display, this special piece will be raffled during the Overtime Period Afterparty at Molloy’s on August 8, following the Memorial Family Skate and Hockey Game. Proceeds help honor Lt. Chris Higgins and support the effort to send his shift to Colorado Springs for the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial.

Lt. Chris Higgins

Lt. Chris Higgins died in the line of duty on January 11, 2025, while operating at a house fire in Laurel, Maryland. He was a 23-year veteran of Montgomery County Fire & Rescue, a life member of Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, and a firefighter known for his skill, bravery, leadership, and love for the job. Chris began volunteering at Earleigh Heights at just 16 years old and went on to serve some of Montgomery County’s busiest stations, earning lifesaving awards and the deep respect of the firefighters who worked beside him. He was a husband, father, hockey player, Capitals fan, and the kind of firefighter his shift relied on for knowledge, experience, and steady leadership. The Great 8 Memorial Raffle helps make sure Chris’ shift can travel to Colorado Springs to honor him at the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial.
