The #1818Strong Scholarship
Honoring a Legacy. Supporting Futures.
The #1818Strong Scholarship provides educational support to Anne Arundel firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics who were forced to retire due to illness or injury, as well as surviving family members of those lost in the line of duty. This program reflects the Emerald Society’s commitment to supporting our own when service results in lasting hardship or loss.
A legacy of courage and service.
Established in March 2022, the #1818Strong Scholarship celebrates Greg Leonard’s courage and the inspiration he provided to family, friends, and colleagues during his battle with ALS. The fund both supports students through annual awards and sets aside a dedicated investment for Greg's sons, Kip and Dash.
Who Can Apply?

Medically retired first responders
Anne Arundel County firefighters and paramedics retired due to medical or physical impairment
OR
2
Eligible family members
Spouses, children, stepchildren, or grandchildren of those retired due to medical or physical impairment, or who suffered a line-of-duty death.
